Christmas Program
Lord willing, our annual program will be December 19th at 11:00. The children have been working hard on the play - be sure to come out to see their performance and hear about the purpose of Christmas. A lunch will follow.
Baptism
We have been blessed to witness the baptisms of several believers. It was exciting to watch as they publicly identified with the Lord Jesus' death, burial and resurrection.
Explanation of Baptism
Though baptism is not a part of the gospel (I Cor. 1:17) and not a requirement for salvation (Titus 3:5), it nevertheless plays a vital role in the discipleship process (Matt. 28:20). Through baptism, believers publicly identify themselves with the Lord Jesus and His death, burial, and resurrection. It is an outward manifestation of an inward reality. Hence this practice is only for those who have placed their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ (Acts 2:41, 8:36-38). The Scriptures also reveal the pattern of baptism by immersion (i.e. Matt 3:16, Jn 3:23), as the literal meaning of the word also indicates (baptism is transliterated from the Greek "baptizo" meaning "wash" or "place into"). It also brings the believer into church accountability and makes the believer publicly responsible for their future behavior. (See "Statement of Faith" for specifics concerning salvation.)
